The new film includes new and exciting views of Funchal Airport on Madeira and the work of the pilots. Apart from the multiple opportunities for outdoor activities, Madeira, the Portuguese island in the Atlantic, is especially famous for its spectacular approach to the airport on the Southeastern tip of the island. The documentation features the entire flight of the Airbus A321 on 23 June 2016 from Stuttgart to Funchal and offers a number of bonus features including an audio commentary of flight captain Bernd Krohme of Condor. “It’s also a special day for us in the cockpit when Funchal is our destination”, explains Bernd Krohme, Deputy Fleet Chief of the Condor Airbus fleet. “We are trained for this special approach and the weather conditions at the Airport. Even more than usual, good airmanship and an accurate assessment of the situation is important. Thanks to all our preparations, the approach to Funchal is admittedly spectacular but just as safe as an approach to any other airport in our route network.“
Frank Zwecker, General Manager of Take-Off TV adds: ”We have documented the work of the cockpit crew during the whole flight with six cameras. The viewer can literally look over the pilot’s shoulder and follow all steps until the airplane lands at Madeira. We are especially proud of Captain Krohme’s audio commentary, in which he delivers many interesting details and explanations about the flight.” The new film is already the third collaboration between Take-Off TV and Condor – in the other films, the team accompanied a Boeing 767 to Mauritius and a Boeing 757 to Heraklion in Greece.
